Covid 19 Impacting Freight

How Covid-19 Impacted Freight Forwarding

Global Freight Flows After Covid-19

Not only has Covid-19 impacted our daily lives but work too. In our case, we’ve seen it to have massively affected trade during the Corona pandemic. Freight is our livelihood and way of life, so it was important for us to stay ahead as much as possible and to prepare for all eventualities. Just like for a lot of you, 2020 has been highly uncertain, with twists and developments along the way, so we have adjusted to the new routine as best we possibly good. But how has Covid-19 impacted freight forwarding?

Sea Freight From Taiwan To The UK

Corona Changed 2020

As we all know, the Coronavirus hit pause on everything. From working from home to now wearing face masks wherever we go in public, we’re all adjusting as we go. But freight forwarding has been no different if anything we were on fast forward. Although freight forwarding was still going ahead, the transportation itself was hit massively as more people started ordering more. We found a huge influx of work due to the number of people that were now ordering a range of different things. Over 2020 online shopping increased massively, be it from the UK or overseas. Regardless of the global pandemic, people had more time on their hands whether they were ordering small amounts, bulk buying or getting round to things they never previously had time for.

Most Popular Freight Items

We’ve all seen supermarket bulk buying like no other. From pasta to toilet roll, people were stocking up and stocking up fast. In terms of freight, things got crazy busy, we of course, anticipated this and were as prepared for it as we could be. As supermarkets, retailers and personal shopping (to name a few) started with their orders, our sea freight and air freight became busier than ever. At Power Forwarding, some of the most popular freight items we know of were:

  • Pasta and rice
  • Toilet roll
  • Anti-bacterial and hand sanitisers
  • Face masks
  • Toiletries and medication
  • Cleaning products and chemicals
  • Sanatory products
  • Garden/home decor and paint

Affects from Panicking Buying

Panicking buying in 2020 has been a year we’d never seen or ever heard of before. This year itself has been one of the most challenging years we’ll have in our lifetime. From running low on food to having to stay home except for essential reasons or our daily walks, you couldn’t have predicted what was to happen in 2020. The main thing is that we’re closer to the end than we are the start, there are new processes in play to get to as close to normal as we can, and freight forwarding is always here to get your desired items to you as quickly as possible. That said, if you would like to know more about our freight forwarding, or any of our services please feel free to get in touch with Power Forwarding.
