When it comes to car shipping, there are a few things you’ll need to know. In order to ship your vehicle successfully, you will need all of the required information from both the UK and the country in which you are shipping to. That said, our top three car shipping tips are:
1. Fit to drive
Some shipping options require that your vehicle must be driveable. This allows it to be easily manoeuvred both on and off the ship. This includes having a valid MOT.
2. Paperwork
Your car must be accompanied with the right paperwork both at point A and point B. Be it from the UK to overseas, vice versa or both destinations are UK, you will need all of the necessary paperwork with the vehicle. You should research the paperwork requirements for the country your vehicle is coming or going to, if applicable. Check to see if you need to apply for an import permit in advance of the shipping too.
3. Insurance
If you are driving the vehicle to the port to be transported, it will require insurance for that journey in the UK and prepared for the destination it’s heading to, and vice versa. There are also car shipping insurance options available, and we suggest you look into this.
Please note that the different types of paperwork that is required to ship a car can include: V5C for the vehicle, photo page of the consignee’s passport, and a purchase or sales invoice of the vehicle.
